Roland Fantom 7 - State-of-the-art technology

Compatible with both hardware and software, the on-board ZEN-Core Synthesis System gives you access to a vast library of iconic sounds, all ready to be shaped, tweaked and transformed. Whether you're working with compatible Roland hardware or inside your favourite DAW, you can keep the sounds that inspire you close at hand.

For even more creative possibilities, explore the extensive range of sound packs and engine expansions. With new sounds available on demand, you'll always have fresh inspiration ready whenever creativity strikes.

If you regularly collaborate with other musicians and producers, ZEN-Core makes sharing sounds incredibly simple. Discover an inspiring pad, bass, FX or lead patch and share it with friends using their own ZEN-Core-compatible instrument or DAW. And if synthesis isn't your thing, there's no need to worry — thousands of expertly crafted presets are ready to play straight out of the box.

Drawing on more than 50 years of Roland's research and development, these virtual instruments capture the character and feel of the originals while opening the door to an entirely new generation of sound design. Alongside classic tones inspired by Roland's iconic history, you'll find a wealth of innovative sounds designed to give your productions a distinctive edge.

Roland Fantom 7 – Powerful Sampling and Sound Design

The Fantom 7 gives you the freedom to sample both internal and external sources, even simultaneously. Samples can be recorded directly to the pads for instant triggering or assigned to the keyboard for immediate pitch-based performance.

For even greater creative flexibility, you can build complex multisamples, supporting up to 352 samples per tone. This gives you an impressive level of control over your sounds and takes sample-based sound design to another level.

The Fantom 7 also puts extensive modulation capabilities at your fingertips. Each partial features two detailed LFOs, while every tone contains four partials. With 16 tones available, that's up to 128 LFOs per voice, giving you an enormous range of options for creating evolving textures, expressive performances and intricate rhythmic effects.

For sequencing rhythmic patterns and melodic ideas, the built-in 16-step sequencer is beat-synchronised to your track's tempo and provides 37 curve options for each step. Whether you're creating complex rhythms, animated sequences or evolving sound patterns, there's plenty of scope for experimentation.

With 2GB of internal sample memory, the Fantom 7 has plenty of room for your own sounds. It's particularly useful for live performers who need to recreate sounds from multiple instruments without having to take an entire collection of hardware on the road. Despite its extensive sampling capabilities, the Fantom 7 maintains a fast start-up time of around 40 seconds, so you're ready to perform without a long wait.

Roland Fantom 7 – The Ultimate Creative Hub and Workstation

Building on the success of previous Fantom generations, the Fantom 7 combines Roland's renowned playability with a powerful, modern workflow. Its ergonomic layout places an extensive range of performance controls directly within reach, while the integrated TR-REC sequencer gives you another intuitive way to build and manipulate your music.

The streamlined workflow makes it easy to create, shape and perform, allowing you to move seamlessly between sounds as your ideas develop. Whether you're producing in the studio or performing live, the Fantom 7 is designed to keep the creative process flowing.

The focus is simple: play more and think less about the technology behind it. The Fantom combines advanced technology with an intuitive operating experience and deep computer integration. Its modeless interface means you don't have to worry about which features are available in different modes. Instead, you have a consistent workspace that adapts to whatever you're doing — from detailed music production and sound design to live performance.

With powerful synthesis, extensive sampling, deep sequencing capabilities and seamless DAW integration, the Fantom 7 is designed to be the centre of your entire creative setup.

Roland Fantom 7 - Scene and always heard

One of the most useful performance features is the ability to customise your creative space and save the settings. The creative spaces are called “Scenes”. A Scene can be a full song, a segmented section of a song or even a selection of your favourite sounds, arranged to your liking. You can even chain multiple Scenes together and switch between them instantaneously with gaps or glitches.

Roland Fantom 7 - Highly versatile sound engine with powerful DSP

The beating heart of the Fantom is the powerful and versatile sound engine. It's one of Roland’s most flexible and expandable sound engines today; the product of years of research and development. The myriad of sounds is further complemented by the ability to blend between tones and sound and even sculpt your own using the onboard analog filter and wide range of controls. The sounds range from authentic acoustic instrument to cutting-edge electronic and hybrid sounds. The new and improved technology pushes the Fantom into new sonic territory, whilst retaining the classic synth sounds that made the originals so sought after.

The core of the sound engine is powered by custom Behaviour Modeling Chips, providing smooth and precise control with a large amount of polyphony and full patch remain. The synthesizer engine bases its design on partials. Each of the partials starts with a discrete synth voice (with oscillator, filter amplifier, dual LFO and effects). You can utilise up to four partials within a single tone. A scene can hold up to 16 tones for complex layering, splits and sequenced parts.

Roland Fantom 7 - Semi-weighted keybed with aftertouch for fluid playability

The Fantom 7 features a brand new semi-weighted keybed with the addition of aftertouch. This premium-grade keybed provides an authentic feel and touch, similar to that of a grand piano. The result is a solid yet precise feel that captures your playing style with every nuance. The wide range of connectivity also means you can incorporate lever, wheels or pedals for added expressiveness.

Roland Fantom 7 - V-Piano technology – natural sound and feel

Further complementing the semi-weighted keybed, the Fantom features V-Piano technology. This specialised sound technology combines the authentic feel of the keybed with a meticulously crafted piano sound. The result is a natural grand piano sound that plays and responds like their acoustic counterparts.

Roland Fantom 7 - Hands-on control with intuitive touchscreen interface

The Fantom features a comprehensive control section, comprised of a wide range of knobs, sliders and even RGB pads. You can use the sliders for controlling modulation and volume, perfect for making quick, on-the-fly changes. You can achieve everything from smooth sweeps to finer adjustments of texture and sound with the onboard controls. It also includes a dedicated synth section with oscillator, filter and envelope controls as well as buttons and pads for triggering and sequencing.

The main control hub of the whole workstation is the intuitive touchscreen interface. You can easily control settings and parameters from the touchscreen, as well as providing seamless integration with your favourite DAW. The touchscreen allows you to directly operate performance software like Apple’s Logic Pro and MainStage, as well as virtual instruments from Roland Cloud and some others.

Roland Fantom 7 - TR-REC step sequencer

Creating patterns and rhythms has never felt better. The onboard TR-REC style pattern sequencer is borrowed from classic Roland drum machines. This new stylised sequencer allows you to create patterns in a variety of different ways. You can create rhythms and pattern in real time or through step-time polyphonic sequencing.

A highly useful tool is the clip-based sequencing. Building up a track and arranging it can be one of the most tedious challenges musicians face. By constantly building and adding new clips you can easily start to see the puzzle pieces in an intuitive way. You can record drums, basslines pads and other patterns, which you can then trigger individually or in groups.

Roland Fantom 7 - Wide range of analog and digital connectivity

The rear panel of the Fantom features a wide range of analog and digital connectivity, making it one of the most versatile workstations on the market. The Fantom doesn’t just work with computers, it fully integrates with them. It features a built-in 16x3 stereo audio interface, as well as the ability to integrate soft synths. You can even connect external MIDI and USB controllers from the three available USB ports. Should you desire to integrate it with analog synths and modules, the Fantom features two sets of CV/Gate which you can sync tempo or play them from Fantom’s keyboard and pattern sequencers.
