Roy Haynes career and contribution to music was one of historic length and depth. His style was so foundational it earned him a lifelong nickname – ‘Snap Crackle’ – within a decade of his first forays into professional jazz drumming. A foreshadowing of foundational impacts to come.

The Yamaha Roy Haynes Centennial Snare Drums is designed with jazz drummers and collectors in mind who value tone, control and history above all else. Built around a 1.2mm hand hammers copper shell, this snare drum delivers a fast and articulate response with that classic dark yet warm edge that you get with copper snare drums.

The 14" x 5.5" configuration sits perfectly with any modern jazz drummer allowing them to slot this into any set up with ease, weather that be modern jazz, bop, smooth or any other setting that requires open dynamics. This snare drum comes with Yamahas Dyna Hoops, this helps maintain even tension across the drum, while the 45 degree bearing edges help give clarity at softer dynamics.

Each drum is carefully assembled in Yamahas Japanese factory where the fabled PHX drums are made. The Roy Haynes signature snare drum is then finished with Centennial badge. Production of this snare drum is limited to only 100 pieces worldwide! As an added bonus this snare also comes with a built in mute which allows you to dial back overtones and mellow out the sound even furth when it is needed. Each snare drum also comes with a special brochure containing a message and signature from Roy Haynes.
