The Yamaha YDP-166 piano offers an enhanced sound and playing experience and an ideal base to learn to play piano. Compared to the YDP-146 it makes use of the GrandTouch-E piano action with both ebony and ivory matte key tops, a more powerful speaker system and a slightly more robust piano look and design. It is equipped with Yamaha's famous CFX Concert Grand piano sample as well as a selection of other quality sounds. It also comes with Bluetooth Audio and MIDI which allows it to connect with external apps and the free SmartPianist app from Yamaha without the need for wires. This particular model is finished off in a rich Rosewood colour to blend seamlessly in to its environment.

A Full Learning Experience In One Instrument

The Yamaha YDP166 offers a full learning experience when combined with the free SmartPianist app. The app offers full control over the piano features by using the screen of the connected smart device. The app can connect wirelessly via the built-in Bluetooth on the piano and opens up a world of educational features including access to over 300 songs along with access to famous educational music books. The apps features will allow you to learn step by step to read and perform music on the piano, yet, make it fun at the same time. It is truly a superb piano for learning and performance.

GrandTouch E Piano Feel

Taking the feel of a real piano a step further, the Yamaha YDP166 comes with the enhanced GrandTouch E action for a superb dynamic response and the feel of a real grand piano. Both the black and white keys comes with a matte finish, replicating the original ivory of old pano keys, enhancing the grip of your fingers. It also has escapement which replicates the feel of the hammers leaving the key on a real piano, giving the player a much more involved feel and bringing the feel that little bit closer to being just like an acoustic instrument.

VRM - Virtual Resonance Modelling Lite

When a real piano is played, there are lots of strings and sections of the piano that resonate and make their own noises in harmony with notes being played. The Yamaha YDP166 re-creates this effect using VRM - Virtual Resonance Modelling, and brings the authenticity of a real piano right to your fingertips

Perform And Practice With Headphones

Wearing headphones allows the player to perform and practice in silence without disturbing others. It's also ideal for practice and night time. Wearing headphones often separates the player from the sound emanating from the piano and they loose a depth of sound immersion. The YDP-166 piano incorporates a Stereophonic Optimiser that simulates the natural spread of sound as if you were sitting at an acoustic piano, rather than simply emitting sound directly into your ears, creating a more immersive playing experience.

Speaker Diffuser System

The YDP166 piano is equipped with a new diffuser to enhance and make the sound clearer. Speakers can loose clarity when they do not face the person directly so the new system brings the sound back to life by diffusing the angle of the emitted sound. It creates a more pleasant sound field for both player and audience.
