EXs17 SGX-2 Berlin D Piano

One of the three great pianos of the world, this legendary instrument from Berlin has been captured for the SGX‐2 sound engine. The KRONOS piano engine has always offered huge collections of non-looped/natural decay stereo samples, recorded for every key, with additional unique tools to customize the piano to your needs. Inheriting all of this SGX-1 functionality, the new enhanced SGX-2 Grand Piano engine introduces the new Berlin Grand Piano, including 12 velocity zones, Sympathetic String Resonance and newly-recorded Una Corda (soft pedal - literally "one-string"). The EXs17 Berlin Grand Piano offers resonant piano sound with striking sense of depth.

Korg have expanded the Kronos workstation with the Kronos X. This expanded model offers some internal enhancements for the more professional and most demanding musicians and music creators. Enhanced internal SSD and more RAM alongside version 2 operating system opens up the capabilities of this already renowned workstation.

What New In Kronos X

There are 3 main big changes to the Kronos X over the standard Kronos workstation. These advancements will meet the most demand needs allowing for incredible creative capabilities in a workstation that has already set new boundaries.

Double capacity SSD - Instead of the usual 30Gb SSD drive found in Kronos the 'X' model will have an astounding 62Gb SSD as standard. This increase in capacity allows those interested in recording and sound expansion a much greater scope of recording memory and storage space for their own sounds. The massive capacity SSD also allows download and storage of the Korg Sample Library sounds much easier without worrying about running out of space for other data. The audio recorder records sound directly to the SSD drive and as audio takes up a large amount of space, anyone using this facility will find the capacity of the drive a welcomed addition.

2Gb RAM - Kronos X will ship with 2Gb of RAM memory. Ram memory in Kronos is used for sample data including some early trigger sample data for EXi sounds and for other sampled sounds within the instrument, As standard Kronos has just over 100mb of free sample space due to the preload sounds using some of the available memory. The 2Gb addition therefore offers over 1Gb of free sample space as standard and with a few tweaks could allow the user nearly 2Gb of sample space by simply disabling some of the preload sound sets.

Operating System V2.00 - OS2.0 wil be available for download free of charge for all Kronos users from the Korg website when it is released. Kronos-X will ship with the new OS as standard and it will offer a few welcomed system enhancements. Firstly the new operating system will allow the use of 2 SSD drives installed internally for phenomenal storage capacity. The new OS will also add a welcomed and fantastic feature for all sample heads and sound creators alike. A new user sample bank will allow access to custom samples and sounds much like an EXi instrument. Samples will be streamed from the internal SSD drive in a similar manor to EXi which means custom sounds and sample banks could be absolutely massive!

Demo sounds from the Korg Sound Library - A set of demo sounds are available to try before you buy. The Kronos X comes with a demo set of sounds direct from the Korg Sound Library and can be activated for the appropriate cost if you want them.

The rest of the Kronos X will be the same incredible specification as the regular Kronos Workstation. A huge touch screen interface will give access to the huge array of sound and synthesis engines along with hands on control for editing, sequencing and more.

SST (Smooth Sound Transition) allows live players and performers to switch between combinations and program sounds without a glitch in the sound. Set List mode is a clear and precise block layered screen for instant access to all sounds and programs you may need for live performance and your favourite settings. With the combination of SST and Set List mode their are no excuses for the live performer, instant and glitch free sound changes to all their required sounds with the touch of a finger.

The Kronos X is fully compatible with the Kronos editor. The editor is free to download and gives easy access to virtually all the settings and modes on the workstation. The editor can work as a plug in inside your favourite DAW so all your settings and sounds are stored when you save your project so they will all load in and set up the Kronos when you next open your project to continue work.

Kronos X is the most powerful Korg workstation ever developed and should be considered as part of any serious musicians set-up.
