The affordable home piano with classic design, sound and feel

      Roland HP-504 Features

It might be the most affordable piano in Roland's HP range, but the entry-level HP-504 will still make your head turn. Available in rosewood or contemporary black, the HP-504 is a modern classic, with an elegant, understated look that brings a touch of class into your home.

The SuperNATURAL Piano sound engine found in all Roland pianos has been enhanced further for the HP-504 with a Dynamic Harmonic feature for fortissimo playing, while the new PHA-4 Premium Keyboard with Escapement and Ivory Feel includes the latest touch-sensing technology to fully explore SuperNATURAL Piano's rich tonal variations and natural dynamics.

One of the major benefits of digital pianos is that you can use headphones, so you don't interrupt others while you practise. Most pianos don't take this into account though, and the sound you hear from the headphones can be dull and uninspiring - not ideal, as you'll probably use headphones often. But now with the HP-504 you'll enjoy the unique sound field of an acoustic piano during your private practice sessions, thanks to the Headphones 3D Ambience effect.

There are other benefits of owning a digital piano too. The HP-504 never needs tuning and it features a built-in recorder so you can record your playing, and then listen back to evaluate your playing skills. You can connect a USB key containing your favourite songs and listen to them through the HP-504's speakers and then play along on top. And if you're bored of a classic grand piano sound, you can play with smooth electric pianos, jazzy organs or majestic strings.

Finally, recognising that even the most devoted piano lover needs a little fun sometimes, the HP-504 works with Rolands free iOS piano apps, so it's easy to use your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to enhance your learning and have more fun with the piano.

Available in contemporary black or rosewood finishes.

      • Enjoy superior sound with SuperNATURAL Piano, which delivers the rich, complex tone of an authentic acoustic grand
      • New PHA-4 Premium Keyboard with Escapement and Ivory Feel features Roland's latest high-resolution touch-detection technology

      • Use new Individual Note Voicing to customise the sound to your taste by adjusting the pitch, volume, and character of each note independently
      • Headphones 3D Ambience effect offers a rich, immersive sound experience while using headphones for private practice

Roland HP-504 Rosewood Digital Piano - A digital piano that sounds like an acoustic

A piano should sound like a piano - a wide dynamic range, full of colour and character; a natural, organic decay; and the power to summon an emotional performance from the pianist. It all sounds rather obvious, until you realise that most digital pianos fall well short. Roland's SuperNATURAL Piano technology brings the piano sound to life and it's what makes our pianos special.

Roland HP-504 Rosewood Digital Piano - A responsive, expressive keyboard with realistic Ivory Feel

Whether you're a beginner or a master pianist, the keyboard is where it all comes together. If you think about how often you'll be pressing those keys, you'll need a comfortable keyboard that doesn't encourage bad habits. When designing our keyboards, our goal is for you to think you're playing an acoustic piano keyboard. Sure, there's lots of technology involved underneath, but the end result is refreshingly natural. Play one and you'll agree. The highly-responsive PHA-4 keyboard shares the look and feel of real ebony and ivory, and their moisture-absorbing properties mean your fingers won't slide off. Finally, the PHA-4's authentic hammer-action mechanism produces less noise than previous designs, so you won't disturb others when using headphones.

Roland HP-504 Rosewood Digital Piano - A piano that adapts to you, not the other way round

Most digital pianos offer a fixed piano sound, and if you don't like it, you're stuck with it. The HP-504 is different though, as you can adjust the pitch, level, and tonal character for each of the 88 notes, so the overall piano sound perfectly suits the acoustic properties of any room . Finally, a piano that adapts to you, instead of the other way around.

Roland HP-504 Rosewood Digital Piano - Convenient features for everyday playing

The HP-504 is a digital piano, with many advantages over acoustic pianos. It'll save you money as it doesn't need tuning, and you get a metronome, recording features, silent practice with headphones, USB connectivity and the option to use apps to help you improve. But it's worth remembering that the HP-504 is just like an acoustic piano where it matters: the sound, feel and playing experience. Just the way it should be.

Roland HP-504 Rosewood Digital Piano - 3D Headphones sound brings practise to life

The beauty of digital pianos is that you can practise in silence without disturbing other people. Great for them, but what about you? You'll probably be using headphones a lot, but many pianos don't take this into account. With the HP-504's new 3D Headphones Ambience effect, you'll enjoy the sound field of an acoustic piano during these private sessions, making it feel as though the sound is emanating from the instrument itself.

Roland HP-504 Rosewood Digital Piano - Listen, learn and improve

The onboard recorder lets you listen to what you just played, highlighting areas for improvement. Instant recording is a real time saver, essential for helping students improve. It comes in handy for experienced pianists too as you can share your audio recording (via USB) with family, friends, or your piano teacher.

Roland HP-504 Rosewood Digital Piano - Free Roland apps make piano practice fun

Practise can be boring, but it's essential if you want to improve. So why not make practise fun by hooking up your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch? With the Piano Partner app you can display the piano's built-in songs via the iPad's screen, identify the different notes by ear or wirelessly stream your favourite tunes from your iPhone through the piano's speaker system.

*Wireless communication requires the Roland WNA1100-RL Wireless USB Adaptor (sold separately) and a wireless LAN access point with an Internet connection.

Roland HP-504 Rosewood Digital Piano - Authentic damper pedal response

The HP-504 has a Progressive Damper Action pedal that accurately replicates the damper pedal on an acoustic piano. It features the continuous tactile response that experienced players expect, with light resistance when the pedal is first pressed and more resistance as the damper function begins to take effect. This allows for more intuitive control while playing, along with "half-pedal" techniques for subtle control over sustain and resonance.

Roland HP-504 Rosewood Digital Piano - Explore an expanded range of dynamic expression

The Dynamic Harmonic feature allows you to adjust the unique overtone characteristics created with fortissimo playing. If you're a student, this gives you a new palette of tonal colors to explore as the strength of your key touch improves. More experienced players will welcome the deep expressive control too.

      Also available;

The mid-level HP-506 with a concert-class keyboard and four-speaker Acoustic Projection system; and the flagship HP508, also with a concert-class keyboard, and upgraded six-speaker Acoustic Projection system.

Although the higher-spec models offer upgraded keyboards, speaker systems and larger cabinet designs, the SuperNATURAL Piano engine and features are identical across the range.
