Learn To Play With Smart Pianist

The YDP-144 piano is compatible with the free Yamaha Smart Pianist app. This is compatible with a selection of tablets and smart devices and offers up a fun way of learning to play and read music or even perform along with your favourite music from the built-in music library of the smart device.

There are 3 main sections to the app - The voice section allows you to switch between the in-built sounds on the instrument. The lovely graphical interface is easy to use and even allows you to mix and adjust the reverb effects. The next section offers educational facilities and has a selection of classical pieces to choose from. The scores are shown on the screen with complete control over key, tempo, looping for practice and more. The musical pieces slowly get more complex and improve your playing skills. The final section of the app can scan your built-in music library files and it can calculate the chords and display them so you can perform alongside your favourite artists. Its a truly great way to play and becomes very addictive.

CFX Concert Grand Built-In

There are a selection of 3 piano sounds plus a selection of other voices such as strings, organ vibes etc. in the YDP144. The main piano voice is the CFX grand piano. This famous 9ft Grand is known for its superb sound and clarity which is great for any playing style. The sound is enhanced via a selection of reverb types emulating various room echo/ resonance. The piano experience is enhanced by the graded hammer action system.

Modern and Compact Design

This black YDP144 looks great and its compact design allows it to fit in the smallest of rooms. The finish has a nice grain effect and there is a sliding cover over the keys to keep everything protected with a good sized music rest on the top. Underneath the piano are 3 pedals, each with their own function - Sustain, sostenuto and soft as you would find on a traditional grand piano.

Sound Enhancement Features

There are sound enhancement features built-in to ensure you get the best possible sound quality at all times whether using the in-built speakers or headphones. Firstly the Stereophonic Optimizer is a feature which enhances the sound of the piano on headphones and gives the feeling the sound is coming from the piano in front of you and not just direct to your ears through the phones. The Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC) is clever and keeps the best balance of bass and treble based upon the instruments volume. This means even when playing quietly the sound will always be at its best.
