The piano sound is a sampling from the Yamaha Full Concert Grand Piano \"CFIIIS\", which has won high plaudits at the worlds most famous concert halls and music competitions. The very top piano was selected, and an experienced tuner adjusted it to top condition. Yamaha emphasizes the natural sounds that should emanate from pianos. Sampling is carefully performed over a long period, from the sound start until fadeout, to reproduce a natural sound and attenuation that feels nothing like an electronic piano. In addition, they also focus on the change in timbre due to the strength or weakness of the key strike that is so characteristic of pianos. Sound sampling covered more than 10 stages of key strike strength for each keyboard. Uses \"AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling\", sounds that most closely express the piano characteristics, obtained through rigorous recording. The Yamaha development team spent a lot of time together with pianists in thorough pursuit of the optimum touch and timbre combination, resulting in achievement of natural sound changes that sound like a person is actually playing a grand piano, no matter how the keyboard is played. 

Uses new amp and speaker The piano sound has become clearer, and volume feel has increased. 

Maximum simultaneous tones are an ample 128 tones. Enables enjoyment of rich sounds. Based on Yamahas own technology, there is no unnatural sound cut-off even when the pedal is pressed and sounds overlaid, so that a performance with full presence can be achieved, no matter what song is played. 

Yamaha also focuses on the expressive power of pedaling. Three stable pedals are mounted, including the damper, the soft pedal, and sostenuto. The damper pedal offers a half-pedal response. The damper can handle micro-adjustments of its strength, depending on how hard the pedal is pressed. 

In addition to the electric piano, organ, harpsichord, and other keyboard instruments, it offers a varied sound timbre for string and other instrument performance. 

The piano maker that is Yamaha has made use of its grand piano-making know-how to achieve a keyboard that offers a natural playing feel even on an electronic piano. Achieves slight differences in touch, with the low sound regions of the grand piano being heavy to the touch, while the high sound regions become steadily lighter. With stability and endurance in response to any kind of performance, it offers the security and quality expected of Yamaha keyboards. 

Records 50 deeply familiar piano songs, and includes a music book in the package. Enjoy it as background music, or use it in lessons by adjusting to a slower tempo, or erasing one hand in the music to facilitate practice on that hand. 

Simple operation enables recording of playing performance. Since it can handle 2-track recording, it can record model performances, or record performances on one-hand at a time, letting you enjoy piano duets all by yourself. Built-in memory can save three songs at a time. 

The Yamaha volume control knob allows for particularly detailed adjustment at low volume levels. When practicing at home where playing at high volume may not be possible, you can set the optimum sound volume. Naturally, the sound volume can be raised to enjoy impressive piano performance. 

Buttons enable direct selection of sound timbre, with LED screen also mounted. So simple that anyone can operate them. 

Because it is an electronic piano with no need for tuning, it is maintenance-free. Also comes with two headphone terminals to enable practice without worry about sound volume. So parent and child can enjoy lessons or piano duets even with Muting on. One set of headphones included in package (Japan only). It also has a metronome function essential for practicing, a headphone hanger for hanging up the headphone, and other small conveniences. 

With USB flash memory compatibility, storage of recording data and PC data handling are also simple. 

Use the Yamaha free software \"Music Software Downloader (*1)\" to enable transfer of music data on the PC (MIDI data) to the instruments built-in memory (*2).
