AWM-2 Sound Engine - Nearly Twice The Size of MODX Plus Models

As the MODX M8 is compatible with all Montage-M files, the internal sound engine was upgraded to offer virtually the same sound capabilities. Therefore the AWM2 sound memory was upgraded to 10.7Gb of sound samples and with a capability of 128 elements per part. This extensive capability means you can layer and create sounds that is pretty much only limited by your imagination.

Enhanced Live Control - Part And Scene Buttons

On the top panel you will now find dedicated part and Scene Selection buttons to control 8 Parts per Performance. Particularly beneficial for live performances, this intuitive control improves overall usability and adds dimension to each Performance. At the touch of a button you can put, solo and select parts for editing via the live controls or on-screen editing features.

8 Faders and 4 Controller Knobs

The MODX M8 fashions a selection of 8 backlit faders on the top panel. The backlight colour changes depending on the function of the sliders so whether your editing Element level, master volume, or FM-X parameters, you can easily see what is in operation. If you ae using drawbars the sliders have a reverse mode so you can get the original slider positions for organ tones as you would on an original drawbar organ.

The four assignable control dials offer instant control of selected parameters from the grid directly above whilst the screen indicates a graphical detail of what values are being adjusted. Of course there are really up to 8 assignable dials (can switch from 1-4 and 5-8) which can all be controlled by the Superknob for the ultimate in live control of your sound.

Seamless Sound Switching

MODX M8 takes a step further than the previous MODX+ series models by being able to seamlessly switch a performance from one to another without any sound cutoff for any performance containing up to 6 parts. Switching sounds live with the sound cutting off on you can be a real issue, but now with 6 part SSS, you can have bigger sounds and layers and still change without worrying about your sound cutting out during a change.

SuperKnob Controller

Renowned now as the ultimate all in one controller for live control, the Superknob can control up to 128 parameters in one swift turn. It can be assigned to anything from controlling individual elements that make the sound source, right through to cross fading parts, adjusting effects and filters and much more - all in realtime in 1 turn of the dial! This can also be used via foot pedal so you can have complete live control without any need to remove your hands.

ESP - Expanded Softsynth Plugin for MODX M

Free for all registered MODX M8 owners, the Expanded Softsynth Plugin (ESP) replicates MODX M in your favorite Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). ESP lets you to create, edit and mix performances anywhere you happen to be, without the hardware, offering an unprecedented level of stage and studio integration

High Resolution Controllers

Change values more smoothly than ever before with the high resolution controllers. Whether sweeping a filter or changing ADSR, the controllers don't just go from 0-127 but now go to 1023 and everything in between. As well as making things smoother than ever before, this also helps bring the MODX M8 in line with MIDI 2.0 capabilities.

USB MIDI 2.0 and Multichannel Audio Interface

Simplifying your studio setup, MODX M8 offers USB MIDI and multichannel audio (5 Stereo out and 2 stereo return) audio interface in 44.1kHz. It can even run now at 96kz! Streamline MIDI recording, virtual instrument monitoring, and multi-track audio recording through a single USB cable, so you can spend more time being creative.

MIDI 2.0 delivers high resolution data for note velocity, polyphonic and channel aftertouch, Super Knob, pitch bend, modulation, assignable knobs/sliders, foot controllers and sustain.
