Acoustic Guitar (R)Evolution
Playing guitar in a great sounding room is the most inspiring, engaging playing experience imaginable - far more enjoyable than in a dry-sounding room like a lounge, office or den. Yamaha's TransAcoustic Guitar recreates the incredible experience of playing in a rich, live room without needing any external amplification or effects - just the guitar itself. Whether you're practicing, writing, recording or just playing for fun, the TransAcoustic Guitar will make you play better, longer and with more creativity. Once you've experienced it, you'll never want to play another acoustic guitar again.
Yamaha FS-TA trans-acoustic guitar
The FS-TA TransAcoustic is an electro-acoustic guitar with a twist. Play as a standard acoustic and the concert shape body is comfortable and incredible detailed in its tone with great low and mids. However, the push of a single buttons transforms your sound with reverb and chorus effects emanating from the body of the guitar, enveloping you in the sound.
Yamaha FS-TA Trans-Acoustic Guitar - ActuatorAn actuator installed on the inner surface of the guitar back vibrates in response to the vibrations of the strings. The vibrations of the actuator are then conveyed to the body of the guitar, and to the air in and around the guitar body, generating authentic reverb and chorus sounds from inside the body. Yamaha FS-TA Trans-Acoustic Guitar - Simple ControlsThree simple knobs let you adjust the degree of effect applied and the lineout volume level. Additionally, keeping the controls small minimizes the area of the holes in the body material, reducing acoustic sound loss.(A) Chorus Control (B) Reverb Control (Room / Hall)(C) TA Switch / Line Out Volume Control* Pressing the TA Switch for more than 0.3 seconds activates the TA function.* When a cable is connected to the line-out jack, the lineout volume can be adjusted by rotating the (C) knob.* The reverb type switches from Room to Hall around the 12:00 position. | |
Yamaha FS-TA Trans-Acoustic Guitar - Newly Subtle Battery BoxBattery box integrated into the end-pin jack. This requires fewer holes in the body, thus reducing acoustic sound loss. Connect the cable from the jack to a PA or amp to use as an acoustic electric guitar. |

Review by Alan Hamilton
The Yamaha FS-TA is a great looking guitar depending on your tastes and look is important - if it looks good you want to play it!
The body shape is curvy rather than bottom heavy like the dreadnought FG-TA. This visual difference has become more popular over the last 10 years. Originally the dreadnought was popular because of its power especially in the bass but product developments in particular bracing has meant the smaller (the `S` in FS-TA) guitar shape produces a full sound with the advantage that it`s more comfortable. Other quality manufacturers refer to this body shape as NEX, 000, Folk, Grand Auditorium, concert
The sides are mahogany laminate and the top of the Yamaha FS-TA is solid spruce with vintage tint. Wood darkens with age so an old guitar you might have from 20 years ago would be a darker than when first bought. Cream binding rather than white binding adds to the vintage appearance and the binding is top and bottom of the body and both sides on the neck.
Yamaha is the largest musical instrument manufacturer in the world, you are always guaranteed a quality instrument. the guitar plays really well, is set up perfectly from the factory and comes fitted with Elixir strings. This is a great guitar before you even consider the trans-acoustic advantage.
Yamaha trans-acoustic guitars are truly amazing to play and if you`ve never tried one you really should. The Yamaha FS-TA has a transducer inside the body that resonates the solid spruce top as you play. The transducer adds reverb and / or chorus transforming the sound that you hear. Chorus and reverb are the only effects that you`d ever want on an acoustic guitar and this is all built-in with no need for an expensive acoustic amp.
The FS-TA has the system 70 pre-amp so you can plug into an amplifier, the amplified sound includes the reverb and chorus because they are part of the natural sound of the guitar
It`s worth mentioning that this is a Yamaha patented technology that doesn't exist on other guitars, there`s literally nothing to compare it to in the guitar world.
